Adam Turvey: Tributes paid to Met firearms officer after sudden death

ributes have been paid to a Scotland Yard marksman who has died suddenly.

Inspector Adam Turvey, attached to the Met’s elite Specialist Firearms Command, died at the weekend.

The officer, in his 30s, was not on duty at the time and no cause of death has been revealed. However, nobody else is thought to be involved.

His unit tweeted: “We are devastated by the loss of Inspector Adam Turvey.

“Our colleague, our friend, our brother in blue. Stand down Metro Alpha 23, we will take it from here.”

Insp Turvey’s close friend Amanda wrote on Facebook: “We lost a good man. We had our first home together, many years of happiness.

“You started your journey as a Metropolitan Police officer. You made me go to a Justin Timberlake concert. Your crazy, funny dance moves.

“My heart goes out to your mum.. and of course your kids.”

John Apter, chairman of the Police Federation of England and Wales, said: “So sorry to hear this news, thoughts with Adam’s family, friends and colleagues at this difficult time.”

Scotland Yard said: “We are saddened to learn of the death of Inspector Adam Turvey, an officer based within the Met’s Specialist Firearms Command.
