Date:

Irish celebrities embraced country music over the weekend as they enjoyed a night out at Garth Brooks’ opening Croke Park gig.

The ‘Friends in Low Places’ star kicked off the first of five nights at the home of GAA with a thunderous performance after an eight-year wait.

Garth will finish his opening trio of gigs on Sunday night after taking to the stage again on Saturday to perform all his biggest hits to those who missed out on seeing him in 2014.

A host of celebrities revealed themselves as Garth fans on social media by showing their followers what the hottest tickets in town got them.

Ireland football legend Robbie Keane and his wife Claudine were ready to sing along to Garth’s anthems on Friday night as they enjoyed break from their two young sons.

Sharing a sweet selfie of her and Robbie, Claudine wrote: ‘What a performance @garthbrooks super night Croke park was a sea of green.’

Robbie opted for a simple navy blazer and t-shirt combination, while Claudine stunned in leather pants and a cargo top.

Glenda Gilson, who was also in attendance, took to Claudine’s comments section to let everyone know that she thought the night was ‘brill’.

Claudine and Robbie’s were joined at Croker by fellow celebrity couple Brian Ormond and Pippa O’Connor. They even took a moment on the historic night to take a group photo together.

Summarising what everyone in the stadium throught of the gig, Pippa wrote: ‘What a night … what an entertainer @garthbrooks.’

Doireann Garrihy, who soaked in the live show with her 2FM Breakfast co-hosts Donnacha O’Callaghan and Carl Mullan, informed her followers after the gig why she was feeling ‘smug’ with herself.

‘I’m just in the door and I can’t tell you how smug I feel right now because first of all my cosy bed is ready for me and second of all I didn’t drink. There’s enough on at the moment and I want to have a fresh weekend so best of luck to rest of the gang tomorrow hope you have a fab day all of you,’ she said.

The 2FM gang had a ball as they belted out ‘If Tomorrow Never Comes’ together, Donnacha in particular looked to be having the time of his life.

Sadly many people who missed out on the gigs are feeling major FOMO at the minute. RTE broadcaster Anna Geary was among those feeling blue about missing the chance to dust off their cowboy hat.

‘Is it just me or does it feel like the world and its mother are currently at Garth Brooks tonight? I’m a little bit gutted, not going to lie somebody serenade me with The Dance or The River, I’m listening,’ she said on Instagram.
