Storm Eunice: Wales’ coasts, roads and homes were battered by a once in a decade storm

Date:

Storm Eunice hit Wales today leaving a trail of destruction in its wake.

A rare red weather warning for high winds and an amber flood warning across Wales were in force on Friday between 7am and 12pm as the country prepared for the worst.

The storm was said to be the worst in almost three decades and posed a “significant danger to life.”

Drastic measures were taken to ensure public safety, with stay at home guidance issued, mountain road closures and all train travel suspended for the day.

The force of the storm soon became clear as two lorries were blown over on the M4, fences were sent flying and roofs were ripped off, while clean-up operations soon mobilised to clear the uprooted trees scattered across roads.

Here are some of the most dramatic pictures as Wales faced significant damage to homes, buildings and cars from Storm Eunice.
