The Inbetweeners: Where are the cast of the E4 teen comedy now?

Most of the cast have gone on to other TV roles

It has been 12 years since the once in a generation show, The Inbetweeners, ended. The show originally aired on E4 from 2008 and ran for three series and spun-off into two feature films that grossed over £150 million combined.

There was also a TV reunion, Fwends Reunited, which was…slightly awkward, but despite that fans still love the very teen-humoured comedy which spawned loads of cringy moments and inappropriate catchphrases.

Most recently, Neil – played by Blake Harrison – will appear on The Great Celebrity Bake Off for Stand Up to Cancer, in March 2022 and you can read more on that, here.

Simon Bird – Will

Simon, 37, who played the nerdy but loveable Will McKenzie, is arguably the most successful of the main four Inbetweeners. Since The Inbetweeners, Bird has most famously starred in Channel 4 sitcom Friday Night Dinner, which earned higher viewing figures than even The Inbetweeners. He has also directed a film called Days of the Bagnold Summer which premiered in 2019.

Simon married Lisa Owens in 2012, who he met at his time at Cambridge University, and has two children with her.

Joe Thomas – Simon

Joe, 38, who played the impossible not to root for Simon Cooper, has had a similarly successful career since the conclusion of The Inbetweeners. Off the back of his Inbetweeners fame he was cast as Kingsley Owen in the University based sitcom Fresh Meat alongside Jack Whitehall. Joe has continued to work alongside The Inbetweeners creators with the 2018 film The Festival and The BBC’s 1980s comedy drama White Gold, which also starred Gossips Girl’s Ed Westwick. He additionally appeared in series eight of Channel Four’s celebrity game show Taskmaster.

Joe is currently engaged to his one time Inbetweeners love interest Hannah Tointon which shows he didn’t pick up any tips of his unlucky in love Inbetweeners character Simon.

James Buckley – Jay

James, 34, is still most remembered for his iconic portrayal of Jay Cartwright, the tragically funny know-it-all. But the Croydon born actor has still kept very busy. He embodied the childhood version of Del Boy in Only Fools and Horses prequel Rock & Chips and co-starred in White Gold with Joe Thomas.

James has additionally ventured into different avenues away from screen acting. He runs two YouTube channels, a gaming channel called Completed It Mate (a reference to The Inbetweeners) and a vlog channel called At Home With The Buckleys, which Buckley runs with his wife of 10 years. On top of this Buckley is prolific on the app Cameo producing over 10,000 videos to his fans, with an estimated profit to £300,000.

Blake Harrison – Neil

Blake, now aged 36, starred as the endearing goofball Neil Sutherland in The Inbetweeners series and films. After his breakout appearance in The Inbetweeners Harrison crossed the pond and co-starred in American sitcom The Increasingly Poor Decisions of Todd Margaret with Hollywood stars David Cross and Will Arnett. Harrison was Private Pike in the 2016 Dad’s Army film remake of the classic series.

He still acts frequently, most recently in Doctor Who and The Great. He’s the voice of Scoop in Bob the Builder, too. Currently, Harrison also hosts a UFC podcast called The MMA Fan Podcast. Blake now lives in Kent with his wife, Dawn Keenan since 2016, and his two children.

Emily Atack – Charlotte

Emily played the surprising romantic partner of Will, Charlotte Hinchcliffe. But has gone from strength to strength since the show ended. The 2018 I’m a Celebrity runner-up is a distant relative to Paul McCartney, and after leaving the jungle Atack has fronted her own sketch show, The Emily Atack Show and is a panellist on Celebrity Juice. Emily currently resides in London with her dog Penny, she also works with New Look on a clothing collection

She’s the daughter of actress Kate Robbins who has been in Netflix’s Afterlife and musician Keith Atack.

Greg Davies – Mr Gilbert

Flintshire-born Greg Davies, who played Mr. Gilbert, along with Atack may be the only main members of the cast who are more famous for their outside of The Inbetweeners work. Since the conclusion of The Inbetweeners, Davies has written and has starred in The Cleaner and Man Down and has his own Netflix stand-up special. Away from acting or writing Davies also hosts the game shows Taskmaster and Never Mind the Buzzcocks.

Emily Head – Carli D’mato

Emily Head played Carli in The Inbetweeners, who participated in the show’s longest romantic entanglement with Simon. Since The Inbetweeners Emily has acted in 280 episodes of Emmerdale and the BBC show The Syndicate.

Emily is the daughter of Buffy The Vampire Slayer and Ted Lasso star, Anthony Head, who appeared in the The Inbetweeners Movie as Will’s father.

Belinda Stewart-Wilson – Polly

Stewart-Wilson played a supporting but extremely memorable role as Will’s mum Polly, as she is introduced in the opening episode as the “fit” mum. Belinda is just 13 years older than Simon Bird who plays her son, but the comedy value of the relationship paid off.

Since the show finished Stewart-Wilson has appeared in a variety of shows including a short run in casualty and appearances in Citizen Kahn and My Family. She was married to fellow comedic actor Ben Miller from 2004-2011 and they had son child together, Sonny.

Alex MacQueen- Kevin Sutherland

MacQueen played Neil’s Dad Kevin Sutherland, with his most notable scene being when Will got drunk and make false accusations against him. While his performance as Neil’s Dad is seared into most people’s memories, he has been in numerous other high profile TV shows and films. MacQueen’s film roles include Hollywood films such as Cinderella and Jack and the Giant Slayer.
