5 Unique Elements to Add to Your Wedding

Date:

Are you in the early stages of planning your wedding? Do you feel like you’ve been to dozens of weddings and none of them stands out in your mind? Do you want yours to be different and have unique elements that you and your significant other remember forever, as well as your guests? It’s a tall order, but one that can be achieved with a little creativity and some out-of-the-box thinking.

Here are five unique elements you may want to add to your wedding to ensure it’s like no other one you’ve been to.

Create a Dress Code or Pick a Theme

Here’s an idea that will ensure your photos look incredible and that you and your guests will be talking about your wedding for years to come. Rather than guests wearing the typical wedding attire, why not set a dress code or pick a theme? This is a fun way to prompt guest involvement and feel like they are part of the celebration, not just a spectator.

Some of the dress code or theme ideas you may want to mull include:

  • Black and white formal attire
  • Masquerade ball
  • Colour as the theme
  • Tropical Island or resort attire
  • Retro theme
  • Bohemian

Another idea is to pick a particular movie or television show that holds meaning for the two of you and have your guests dress as characters from that show/movie.

If you do plan on setting a dress code or choosing a theme for attire, just be sure to give your guests plenty of notice so they have time to get their outfits together.

Wow Them with the Desserts

Let’s face it, guests tend to remember the food and drinks that are served at a wedding reception, so why not give them what they want?

Instead of the typical wedding desserts, why not wow them with unexpected offerings? If you’re getting married in the middle of summer, for example, why not set up an ice cream bar, a popsicle bar, or even rent a Sno-Cone/shaved ice machine? These treats will cool your guests down and be a memorable dessert.

Maybe you don’t like the idea of cold treats, so why not treat guests to homemade sweets? A table of homemade pies, cakes, cookies, muffins and squares can be the personal touch your wedding needs to set it over the top.

Prioritise Guest Experience with Entertainment Options

How many times have you found yourself as a guest at a wedding looking at your watch and counting down the hours until it wraps up? It’s a horrible thing to say, but it’s often the reality.

You can avoid this by providing your guests with entertainment. That could include a live wedding band, party games, a photo booth you’ve rented, a sightseeing or tour element depending on the location of the wedding (perhaps a tour of the grounds), or hiring entertainers like dancers, a juggler, mimes, and so forth.

Give Guests the Power to Act as DJ

Music also plays a big part in a wedding and it can tend to make or break it. So rather than you picking all the songs, why not get guests involved and let them step into the shoes of the DJ? Open up the music set list to requests and have your DJ play whatever people want. It will make for an eclectic and memorable list of songs.

Introduce Your Guests to Luxury Glamping

One of the most common complaints couples can have after their wedding is how fast the day/night went by. So much planning and thought go into the big day and then it’s over in a blink of an eye. A good solution can be to transform it into a few days of celebrations and introduce guests to the concept and sheer beauty of luxury glamping weddings.

The concept behind this style of wedding is that you set up a camping experience, complete with accommodations so that you and your guests can hang out and enjoy the events for days rather than a few hours. Some key elements to pull this concept off flawlessly include finding the perfect location, hiring a service that can deal with the put up and take down of the tents as well as supply them, providing activities for guests, providing food and dining options, and making sure everything feels special.

A Wedding Everyone Will Remember

Whether you pick just one or a couple of these elements, one thing is certain and that’s the fact you’ll be creating a wedding everyone will remember and will feel unique.
