Anne Doyle was described as a ‘beautiful person’ among other things by Tommy Tiernan viewers as she opened up about her personal life.
The former RTE newsreader sat down with the comedian on Saturday evening’s show to delve into her life.
During the course of the chat, Tommy and Anne got to the topic of marriage and children and Anne explained why she wanted neither.
She told Tommy that she ‘fell in love here and there’ throughout her life, but never, she added, ‘to a point where I felt like upturning my life and becoming a part of a married couple’.
Anne continued that she decided in her 30s that she didn’t want to have children, which she said ‘sounds very clinical’.
The journalist added: ‘I could reverse that way of thinking and say to you that many women particularly have this issue of what’s generally, and not particularly attractively, described as this ticking of the biological clock.
I say that with respect because it is a very important consideration for women. A man can drift around and decide at 75, where, maybe, a woman can’t.
‘I simply didn’t have that, so it wasn’t an issue for me. Why? I have no idea. In all respects, as far as I’m aware, and judging by how my life has turned out, I never had any reason to question it. I am definitely a fairly full blooded woman.’
