Altrincham FC travel to Gateshead FC in the FA Cup 1st Round

Date:

Altrincham are on the road again as they prepare to take on Gateshead United in the FA Cup 1st Round on Saturday 6th November.

A string of injuries and absences have dented the Robins’ form – with last Saturday’s 3-2 loss to Woking marking three consecutive defeats.

Nonetheless the Altrincham manager remains upbeat about his side’s recent performances.

Phil Parkinson said: “We’ve played really good teams, teams in and around the playoffs.”

He added: “We don’t sugar coat things, but the last two performances have warranted results.

“There’s a reason we’re having a sticky patch, we’ll come out of the other end and we’ll be a stronger team.”

All eyes are on the cup as Altrincham gear up for Saturday’s Emirates FA Cup challenge.

Alty will take on an in-form Gateshead side, who sit in 9th place in the National League North.

“We are looking forward to going in to the Gateshead game. Any FA Cup game for Altrincham Football Club is massive,” said Parkinson

Gateshead beat Markes United 3-2 in a replay to get to this stage in the competition.

In team news, the club have recently signed Stoke City midfielder Adam Porter on a one-month loan deal.

Midfielder Ben Pringle is unavailable for this weekend’s fixture after picking up a second yellow card against Woking last Saturday.
