Body found on Lambay Island identified as missing Dublin woman

A body that was found on Lambay Island on Thursday has been identified as missing woman Elizabeth Redmond.

Ms Redmond went missing from her home in Artane, Dublin 5, on December 12 last year. On Thursday, January 27, the alarm was raised after human remains were found on Lambay Island in the Dublin area.

The remains have since been identified as 52-year-old Ms Redmond, and the search appeal has been stood down.

‘Following the discovery of human remains on Lambay Island on Thursday, 27th January, 2022, being positively identified through DNA analysis, the media appeal in respect of missing person Elizabeth Redmond has been stood down’ a statement from Gardaí said.

‘An Garda SĂ­ochána would like to thank the media and public for their assistance in this matter’, the statement concluded.

Ms Redmond’s remains were found by staff working on Lambay Island on January 27. Her body was removed to Dublin City Morgue, where a post-mortem examination will take place. It is unknown at this time how Ms Redmond died.
