If you’ve been house hunting for a while it might be tempting to give up the idea of finding a quality home in an ideal location and go for a fixer-upper that you can actually afford.

There are a number of homes currently on the market that cost less than the deposit on the average home, and they will truly afford their new owners the chance to put their stamp on them.

This list has been restricted to properties that are viable, liveable options for home owners, but without further ado, here are the 10 cheapest homes on sale in Ireland right now:

Bridewell Lane, Macroom, Co Cork — €25,000

This mid-terrace lockup just off the main square in the centre of Macroom has a nice stone facade, but you might be as well knocking it down and starting again.

5 High Greenane Street Upper, Kanturk, Co Cork — €35,000

This one-bed, 519 sq ft terrace bungalow is a stone’s throw from all amenities in Kanturk, Co Cork, including bars, cafes, restaurants shops and parks.

Lower Main Street, Castlerea, Co Roscommon — €38,000

This end-of-terrace two-bed in Castlerea, Co Roscommon covers 800 sq ft and has been internally gutted, primed for refurbishment and modernisation.

Ahascragh, Co Galway — €40,000

This semi-detached property in the centre of Ahascragh village is in need of complete renovation, but comes with an additional acre of land that is suitable for development.

1 Little Wickham Street, Limerick, Co Limerick — €45,000

This 472 sq ft, two-bedroom building in central Limerick requires refurbishment to make it appropriate for residential accommodation, and although it has no external land it is situated in a great location.

20-21 Foildarrig, Castletown Berehaven, west Cork — €49,500

These two cottages are both in need of full refurbishment and available for just under €50,000 each, but this could be the way into upmarket west Cork for buyers on a budget.
