Iceland supermarket is reducing the thresholds for its free delivery services in stores and online, continuing to be the only retailer to offer free next day delivery, seven days a week. The initiative is being introduced to combat the rising cost of living experienced by its customers, helping those with lower weekly shopping budgets to access free delivery. In addition, the offer of free delivery will reduce fuel bills associated with grocery shopping as fuel prices continue to increase.
The frozen food retailer will lower the minimum order value for its online free next day delivery service from £40 to £35. As well as this, Iceland will reduce the minimum order value for shoppers using its in-store home delivery service from £25 to £20. These measures will be trialled nationwide for a period of four weeks and customer feedback will be monitored to ensure the changes have helped shoppers.
Iceland was recently voted the nation’s favourite online supermarket in a consumer survey* and remains the only supermarket offering free next day delivery for online orders.
Richard Walker, Managing Director at Iceland, said: “The entire nation is feeling the pinch at the moment and the cost of living crisis is forcing some families to make difficult decisions in order to make ends meet.”
“Our aim is to mitigate this as much as possible for shoppers on significantly reduced grocery shopping budgets by reducing the thresholds of our free delivery services in stores and online, meaning they won’t need to pay for fuel in order to get the groceries they need, or worry about paying delivery charges.”
This latest initiative is the latest in a series of measures taken by Iceland to support its customers as the cost of living crisis continues to take hold. Earlier this year, Iceland committed to freezing the price of hundreds of products in its £1 ranges, to offer reassurance to the many families who rely on everyday low prices to stay within their weekly budgets.
