Ireland AM star Alan Hughes hospitalised over sudden heart problem

Date:

Ireland AM’s Alan Hughes has been taken to hospital for a heart problem.

The presenter and panto star shared an image of himself at Bon Secours hospital after his resting heart beat was ‘too fast’.

‘Bon Secours hospital …getting Angiogram and scans …seems my resting heart beat is too fast …it takes a lockdown to get my heart going.’

The TV star heralded the staff at the hospital as ‘so kind, efficient and caring’.

Ireland AM colleague Anna Daly as well as Darren Kennedy and Keith Barry sent in their well wishes in the comments.

Sending hugs Alan,’ Anna said while Victoria Smurfit told him to ‘stay safe’.

Alan’s husband Karl Broderick was also in the hospital over the weekend for a ‘tiny procedure’.

‘Don’t panic, just in for a tiny procedure. Yes, its a willy reduction!!!!’ he joked.

‘But seriously, being in a gown in a hospital bed and overhearing other people (young people) talking about symptoms and chemo and well, it just makes you cop on to life [sic].

‘Im gonna eat all the chocolate I can get my hands on later!!! Enjoy the day, enjoy your health.’

Karl also said he was mortified after the nurse caught him taking the selfie.

Earlier this year, Alan credited his husband for helping him get through Ireland’s series of lockdowns.

‘Have to admit I’m finding this lockdown very hard and frustrating … Hope you’re all doing ok.

‘Karl Broderick is keeping me sane if it was not for him I don’t know what I would do … Keep safe everyone.’
