Martyn Ford is hoping to debut in MMA later this year after his proposed boxing match with the ‘Iranian Hulk’ was called off.
Ford was supposed to face off against his foe – real name Sajad Gharibi – at the O2 Arena in London last month on a card that was also set to feature Patrice Evra and Jamie O’Hara, along with podcast host James English.
‘The World’s Scariest Man’ recently revealed he called off the bout due to fears for the mental well-being of Gharibi who appeared to be struggling since the pair infamously clashed during a head-to-head in Dubai.
Ford is keen to fight still but is unsure when the opportunity to box will arise again, so plans to fight in the MMA promotion KSW, which he previously signed with before the pandemic.
“One hundred per cent I am planning on getting involved in MMA,” Ford told Mirror Fighting. “I am already speaking to KSW. This is something that was set pre-covid.
“I have still been doing pieces of Jiu-Jitsu and stuff. They are looking at coming to London in October, and that is an event I would love to get involved with.”
The bodybuilder and actor is on the lookout for a potential opponent and insists he is just as frustrated as fans that he’s yet to compete after so much talk about doing so.
“It just needs to be the right person and right time, my feelers have been put out there to try and get this set up as soon as possible, Ford said.
